Burns-Chimaev set for UFC 273

The matchup between Gilbert Burns and Khamzat Chimaev is a done deal.

The welterweights will square off at UFC 273 on April 9 in Jacksonville, the promotion announced Saturday.

Burns is coming off a unanimous decision win over Stephen Thompson at UFC 264 last July. The Brazilian is 7-1 in his past eight contests, with his lone loss coming against welterweight champion Kamaru Usman in February 2021.

Chimaev is one of the hottest up-and-comers in the sport. "Borz," the No. 11 at welterweight, is 4-0 since debuting in the Octagon in July 2020. His last fight, against Li Jingliang, ended in a first-round submission at UFC 267 last October.

UFC 273 will feature a featherweight title bout between Alexander Volkanovski and Chan Sung Jung, as well as a bantamweight title rematch pitting Aljamain Sterling against Petr Yan.
