Covington slams Masvidal after fight: 'He's done'
Colby Covington believes Jorge Masvidal is no longer relevant following their UFC 272 fight.
"That's the end of 'Street Judas,'" Covington said at the post-fight press conference Saturday night, according to MMA Fighting. "I don't want to hear any more talk of 'Street Judas,' the hype machine who hit lightning in a bottle for a couple fights. He's done."
Covington dominated Masvidal in the pay-per-view main event - which was also one of the most heated grudge matches in UFC history - using his wrestling to win a unanimous decision.
Masvidal, 37, has struggled since finishing the likes of Ben Askren and Nate Diaz in 2019 to become one of the promotion's biggest stars. The No. 6-ranked welterweight lost twice to champion Kamaru Usman between 2020 and 2021, and he's now riding a three-fight skid.
Meanwhile, Covington returned to the win column after losing to Usman in November. The 34-year-old is ranked No. 1 in the division.
