Junior dos Santos signs with Eagle FC, to debut May 20
Eagle FC founder Khabib Nurmagomedov told ESPN's Brett Okamoto on Wednesday that the promotion has signed former UFC heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos.
Dos Santos will make his debut May 20 against Yorgan De Castro, Nurmagomedov added.
The fight is expected to take place at FLXcast Arena in Miami, per Okamoto.
Dos Santos (21-9) fought in the UFC from 2008-2020. He defeated Cain Velasquez in 2011 to capture the heavyweight title. The 38-year-old was released from the promotion in 2020 following a four-fight losing skid, including a defeat at the hands of Ciryl Gane by TKO at UFC 256.
Dos Santos was expected to box Kubrat Pulev in February but the event was canceled.
De Castro (8-3) scored a submission victory over Shaun Asher in the first round of his Eagle FC debut in January. "The Mad Titan" has won each of his last two fights.
Meanwhile, the May card is expected to feature a co-main event involving former UFC stars Hector Lombard and Thiago Silva.
