The UFC will book a fourth consecutive flyweight championship bout between Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno, sources told MMA insider Ariel Helwani.
The promotion hopes to stage the fight in July, Helwani adds.
The two combatants are 1-1-1 in their head-to-head series. Figueiredo won the last matchup, beating Moreno via unanimous decision in January to take back the title. Moreno submitted Figueiredo in the second duel to earn the belt in June 2021. Their first bout ended in a majority draw, allowing Figueiredo to continue his championship reign.
The UFC has rarely booked the same fight three times in a row, let alone four. However, the Figueiredo-Moreno rivalry has electrified the 125-pound division. Two of the fighters' scraps produced Fight of the Night bonuses, while Moreno landed a Performance of the Night bonus in the other one.
UFC president Dana White had been unclear about the flyweight title picture after the January battle, though he acknowledged his desire to see Figueiredo and Moreno fight again at some point.
Second-ranked contender Askar Askarov is slated to face sixth-ranked contender Kai Kara France on Saturday in what would've likely determined the next challenger had the UFC sought a fresh matchup.
