Report: Blachowicz-Rakic rebooked for May 14 main event
A light heavyweight bout between former champion Jan Blachowicz and Aleksandar Rakic will headline UFC Fight Night on May 14 in Las Vegas, sources told MMA reporter Ariel Helwani.
Blachowicz and Rakic were originally scheduled to meet in the March 26 main event, but Blachowicz withdrew due to an injury.
Blachowicz dropped the 205-pound belt to Glover Teixeira last October, suffering a second-round submission loss at UFC 267. He registered one successful title defense against middleweight champ Israel Adesanya after claiming the vacant title with a TKO win over Dominick Reyes in September 2020.
Rakic will try for a third consecutive win, looking to earn a title shot against the winner of Teixeira versus Jiri Prochazka, which is set for June. Rakic is coming off decision victories over former title challengers Thiago Santos and Anthony Smith and is 6-1 in the UFC.
