Ortega-Rodriguez to headline UFC Long Island on July 16
Featherweight contenders Brian Ortega and Yair Rodriguez will meet in the main event of UFC Long Island on July 16 in Elmont, New York, the promotion announced Thursday.
Ortega, 31, is returning to the Octagon for the first time since losing to Alexander Volkanovski by unanimous decision in his second UFC title shot this past September. "T-City" was most recently victorious against Chan Sung Jung in October 2020.
Rodriguez, 29, will be looking to bounce back from a unanimous decision loss to former champion Max Holloway in November in theScore's 2021 "Fight of the Year." The bout was Rodriguez's first appearance since defeating Jeremy Stephens in September 2019.
Other notable bouts set for UFC Long Island include Askar Askarov versus Alex Perez and Michelle Waterson against Amanda Lemos.
