ONE books Adriano Moraes-Demetrious Johnson rematch for August
Adriano Moraes will defend the ONE Championship flyweight title in a rematch with Demetrious Johnson in the ONE 161 main event Aug. 26 in Singapore, the promotion announced Friday.
Moraes and Johnson met in April 2021 after Johnson earned a title shot by winning the ONE Flyweight Grand Prix. Johnson was a heavy favorite, but Moraes handed him his first career knockout loss.
Since then, Moraes retained the title with a submission of Yuya Wakamatsu in March, while Johnson defeated Muay Thai champ Rodtang Jitmuangnon in a mixed-rules bout at the same event.
Johnson won his first three ONE contests en route to the grand prix title after the UFC traded him for Ben Askren in 2018. He hasn't won an MMA bout since 2019. "Mighty Mouse" was the inaugural UFC flyweight champion and is considered one of the greatest fighters of all time.
ONE 161 will be the promotion's first to stream live on Amazon Prime Video, sources told MMA reporter Ariel Helwani. The card will happen during prime-time hours in North America despite taking place in Singapore.
ONE announced it signed a multi-year deal with Prime Video in April to stream events in the United States and Canada.
