Former UFC women's bantamweight champion Miesha Tate came up short in her flyweight debut.
Lauren Murphy defeated Tate via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) at UFC Long Island on Saturday in Elmont, New York.
Murphy got in Tate's face and landed hard punches in the opening seconds of the fight, and that continued throughout the 15-minute affair. Murphy consistently did more damage and bloodied Tate's face.
This was Tate's first trip down to 125 pounds after competing at 135 pounds for the first 27 bouts of her career. She has now lost two in a row and is 1-2 since ending her retirement in 2021.
Murphy bounced back from a loss to flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko last September.
