Report: Prochazka, Teixeira verbally agree to rematch at UFC 282
UFC light heavyweight champion Jiri Prochazka and former titleholder Glover Teixeira are running their instant classic back.
Prochazka and Teixeira have verbally agreed to square off in a rematch at UFC 282 on Dec. 10, sources told MMA Fighting's Damon Martin.
The promotion reportedly initially discussed booking the fight for the January pay-per-view event in Teixeira's home country of Brazil, but the fighters instead opted for December.
Prochazka beat Teixeira at UFC 275 in June with a come-from-behind fifth-round submission to win the 205-pound belt and conclude one of the greatest title fights in UFC history.
Teixeira was ahead on the scorecards going into the final round and likely would've retained his title had the fight gone to the judges, but he tapped to a rear-naked choke with 28 seconds left.
Prochazka, a former Rizin FF champion, knocked out Volkan Oezdemir and Dominick Reyes in his first two Octagon appearances to earn a title shot against Teixeira.
Teixeira finished Jan Blachowicz last October to become the second-oldest UFC champion ever at age 42. He was attempting to record his first title defense against Prochazka and had won six in a row before the loss.
UFC 282 is expected to take place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. No other bouts have been announced for the card.
