Jake Paul's next fight could be the biggest of his career.

The boxer is in serious discussions with former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva about a fight, sources told The MMA Hour's Ariel Helwani.

The contest would be fought at 185 pounds, Helwani adds.

TMZ Sports reported the fight was a go and would take place in October but did not specify an exact date or location. Helwani's sources said the fight is not official as of yet.

The 25-year-old Paul has taken the boxing world by storm since he began fighting in 2018. The former social-media personality owns a 5-0 record as a professional, with victories over former mixed martial artists Ben Askren and Tyron Woodley on two occasions.

Meanwhile, Silva has begun to find success as a boxer after the UFC released "The Spider" from his contract in November 2020. The 47-year-old is in the midst of a three-fight winning streak after losing his first pro bout. He defeated former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in June 2021 and most recently knocked out Tito Ortiz in the first round of a Sept. 2021 fight.

Paul has had trouble securing a bout of late, with Tommy Fury pulling out of a scheduled event over travel issues. Fury's replacement, Hasim Rahman Jr., forced the cancellation of an Aug. 6 matchup versus Paul due to weight issues.
