Report: Cannonier, Dolidze agree to Dec. 2 Fight Night bout
UFC middleweights Jared Cannonier and Roman Dolidze have verbally agreed to a fight at a UFC Fight Night event on Dec. 2, sources told ESPN's Marc Raimondi.
The location of the event hasn't been announced, but the middleweight clash isn't expected to be the main event, Raimondi reports.
Cannonier (17-6) has won his past two fights after suffering a defeat at the hands of Israel Adesanya via unanimous decision at UFC 276. The 39-year-old has scored a split decision win over Sean Strickland and took down Marvin Vettori with a unanimous decision victory in June. He also served as the backup for the UFC middleweight title fight between Adesanya and Strickland in Australia earlier this month.
A victory in the final month of the calendar could further establish either fighter as a title contender against new champion Strickland. The 32-year-old pulled off a stunning decision win over Adesanya at UFC 295.
Cannonier's only losses at middleweight were at the hands of former champions Adesanya and Robert Whittaker.
Dolidze (12-2) is looking to get back on a winning track after sustaining a loss by decision to Vettori at UFC 286 in March. The 35-year-old was on a four-fight win streak prior to the defeat.
The UFC ranks Cannonier as the No. 4 fighter in the middleweight division, while Dolidze is ranked seventh.
