Nate Diaz calls for New Year's Eve boxing rematch vs. Jake Paul
Nate Diaz is ready to fight Jake Paul for a second time.
The former UFC star called out the YouTuber turned prizefighter in a tweet Monday. Diaz said he wants to face Paul in boxing before the end of 2023 and then stage a trilogy bout at a later date under MMA rules.
"I'll fight (you) tomorrow (in) MMA, the problem is (you) suck and I don't work for (the PFL), dumbass, (you) do," Diaz wrote in a message directed at Paul. "Rematch is in boxing, trilogy is in MMA. You need time to train anyway. (You) suck. New Year's Eve is good."
Paul and Diaz squared off in a highly anticipated boxing match in August, with Paul winning by a lopsided unanimous decision. Afterward, Paul called for a rematch in MMA and Diaz immediately angled for a second fight to be in boxing.
The two have long gone back and forth about a potential MMA fight, but the major holdout is the MMA deal Paul signed with the PFL in early 2023. Diaz is a free agent and has no interest in fighting under the PFL banner.
Neither Paul nor Diaz have stepped into the ring since their bout, though there have been hints recently that Paul has his next fight set.
