Former UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya was disappointed after his friend and teammate Alexander Volkanovski fell to Islam Makhachev via first-round knockout in the main event of Saturday's UFC 294.

The fight marked the first time Volkanovski, the reigning UFC featherweight champion who moved up in weight for the second time this year to challenge for lightweight gold, has been finished since his fourth pro bout in 2013.
