Ex-UFC champ Hill arrested, charged for alleged assault of brother
Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jamahal Hill was arrested in Michigan on Monday and charged with one count of misdemeanor aggravated domestic violence, the Kent County Sheriff's Office confirmed to MMA Junkie's Nolan King.
Hill is accused of assaulting his brother, James Anthony Hill Jr., who suffered "serious or aggravated injury," according to court documents obtained by TMZ Sports.
The 32-year-old was booked at a Kent County jail around 1 a.m. and released that evening.
Hill's manager, Brian Butler-Au, tweeted Friday that Hill was allegedly involved in a dispute with his older brother. Butler-Au added that Hill "adamantly maintains his innocence and denies the false accusations."
"We will not be commenting anymore about this until the truth comes out in court," Butler-Au wrote.
Hill is due in court on Jan. 22, per King, citing online records. Hill was born in Chicago but is based in Grand Rapids.
His next fight is expected to be for the UFC light heavyweight title. Hill captured the belt with a win over Glover Teixeira in January but relinquished it in July after tearing his Achilles tendon.
Hill has been a UFC fighter since 2020.
