White: Turner-Green stoppage 'one of the worst I've ever seen'
UFC CEO Dana White was among the many to criticize how long it took referee Kerry Hatley to wave off the UFC Austin co-main event Saturday.
Wth 2:23 left in the first round of a pivotal lightweight fight, Jalin Turner dropped Bobby Green with a right hand. Turner jumped on top of Green, who immediately went flat on his stomach and turtled up. Turner had the next 12 seconds to fire off almost 20 unanswered punches to Green's head before Hatley stepped in.
"One of the worst I've ever seen," White said of the stoppage at the postfight press conference, according to MMA Junkie.
The late stoppage angered many in the MMA community, including UFC color commentators Daniel Cormier and Michael Bisping, who blasted the referee's decision-making on the broadcast.
Despite his disappointment, White seemed willing to give Hatley a bit of a break.
"The difference is we've had some refs say some dumb shit in the past. Like, 'Oh, I allowed her to be a warrior tonight,' and goofy shit like that," White said. "(Hatley) knows that he made a mistake tonight, and he does not feel good about it. It's unfortunate. ... Definitely a bad stoppage. Very bad."
