UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland despises Colby Covington for bringing up Leon Edwards' late father at the UFC 296 press conference Thursday.

Strickland blasted Covington at a press conference Friday in Las Vegas, one day after Covington made an insensitive comment about Edwards' dad. Covington said he planned to take the UFC welterweight champion to the "seventh layer (of) hell" when they meet in Saturday's main event. Covington said he and Edwards would be able to "say what's up" to Edwards' father, who was murdered in a London nightclub when Edwards was 13 years old.

"Him making fun of Leon's dad, that is the biggest f-----g c--t move you can do," Strickland said. "That is the biggest c--t move to do. ... Bad guy, good guy, it doesn't f-----g matter. He raised a boy; (Edwards' mom) raised a boy to be a f-----g man, to win a title, to be a good man. A real f-----g American would applaud him for that. They wouldn't tear him down for that.

"So just so you know, Colby is a fake f-----g p---y, and if he was standing here right next to me, the only f-----g thing he would do is call 911 because he is the definition of a f-----g b---h."

Strickland and Covington have gone back and forth in the media in recent weeks. Covington has said he would be interested in moving up to 185 pounds to challenge Strickland for a second belt if he beats Edwards at UFC 296.

Strickland is scheduled to make his first title defense against Dricus Du Plessis in the UFC 297 main event on Jan. 20 in Toronto.
