Edgar, 42, retired from mixed martial arts in November 2022 after a knockout loss to Chris Gutierrez.
The New Jersey native, one of the most iconic fighters in the history of the lighter weight classes, captured the 155-pound belt against BJ Penn in 2010. He retained the title three times - including in two classic bouts against Gray Maynard, one of which was a draw - before losing it to Benson Henderson in 2012 and moving up to featherweight.
After the loss, Edgar was a longtime contender at 145 pounds but never became a two-division champion. He fell short in two undisputed title fights in 2013 and 2019.
The final chapter of Edgar's career took place at bantamweight. "The Answer" moved down to 135 pounds in 2020 and defeated Pedro Munhoz in his debut but then lost three straight fights via knockout to end his legendary UFC run.
