UFC 299 fighters to have only 1 hour to weigh in
The UFC 299 weigh-ins will have a different procedure than usual Friday in Miami.
Fighters will have just one hour - between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. ET - to weigh in, Florida Athletic Commission (FAC) executive director Timothy Shipman told ESPN's Marc Raimondi.
In most jurisdictions, the weigh-in window lasts from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. local time.
If a fighter misses weight Friday, he or she will receive an additional hour to try to make weight. But every athlete must be on the scale before 10 a.m. to avoid a fine or fight cancellation.
Shipman said the procedural change - which the FAC has had in place for a while - will allow commission doctors to better examine fighters before clearing them to continue cutting weight.
Saturday's UFC 299 card features a bantamweight title bout between champion Sean O'Malley and Marlon "Chito" Vera.
