Mix ekes out win vs. Magomedov to retain Bellator bantamweight title
Patchy Mix defeated Magomed Magomedov via split decision (46-49, 48-47, 48-47) to retain the Bellator bantamweight title in the main event of Bellator Champions Series Paris on Friday at Accor Arena.
Mix defended his belt for the first time and now owns two victories over Magomedov. Mix beat the Russian via second-round submission in the semifinals of the Bellator Bantamweight Grand Prix in December 2022.
The rematch was far more competitive, with several MMA pundits scoring it for Magomedov.
Mix's biggest moment came in the third round when he wrapped up Magomedov in what appeared to be a tight guillotine choke. Magomedov eventually escaped and got on top of Mix.
Magomedov did solid work on the feet throughout the bout, rocking Mix with a right hand in the first round and then again hurting him with a left punch in the third frame.
With the victory, Mix extended his winning streak to seven and remained unbeaten since 2020. "No Love" is now 20-1 as a pro overall.
Magomedov has now alternated wins and losses in his last six fights. He holds a 4-3 record under the Bellator banner.
