Ian Machado Garry defeated Michael "Venom" Page via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) in a welterweight bout at UFC 303 on Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Garry, the No. 7-ranked contender in the 170-pound division and a highly touted up-and-comer, kept his undefeated pro record intact and moved to 8-0 in the UFC.

"The Future" relied on his jiu-jitsu game to get the job done against Page. Garry had a tremendous start to the fight, dragging Page to the ground 70 seconds into the first round. Garry took his back, applied a body lock, and attempted a tight rear-naked choke that Page survived.

The tide turned in Page's favor in Round 2, as the former Bellator star began drilling Garry with hard and precise punches on the feet.

The third round was very close and tough to score. Page controlled Garry on the ground early on. But with about two minutes left, Garry shot a takedown, took Page's back, and finished the fight in that position to secure the judges' nod.

Garry, a 26-year-old from Ireland, has now won three consecutive fights by decision after scoring knockouts in three of his first five UFC bouts.

Page falls to 1-1 in the Octagon after beating Kevin Holland in his debut at UFC 299 in March. "MVP," of England, joined the promotion after a lengthy stint as one of the most popular fighters on the Bellator roster.
