Kara-France vs. Erceg booked for UFC 305
A pivotal flyweight bout between Kai Kara-France and Steve Erceg is set for UFC 305 on Aug. 17 in Perth, Australia, the promotion announced Sunday.
Kara-France and Erceg are the Nos. 4- and 9-ranked contenders in the division, respectively.
Kara-France is looking to snap a two-fight skid. He dropped a controversial split-decision loss to Amir Albazi in June 2023 after suffering a TKO defeat to former champion Brandon Moreno in a July 2022 interim title bout. Kara-France, who fights out of Auckland, New Zealand, had won three in a row before the slump.
Erceg challenged Alexandre Pantoja for the 125-pound title in the UFC 301 main event in May and came very close to becoming the new champion in his fourth Octagon bout. Pantoja won a competitive fight on the scorecards that was decided by the fifth round. Erceg, from Perth, made his UFC debut in June 2023 and won his first three bouts.
UFC 305 will be headlined by a long-awaited middleweight title fight between champion Dricus Du Plessis and former champ Israel Adesanya.
