Chandler promises 'something mind-blowing' in UFC return vs. Oliveira
Michael Chandler is setting the bar high for his comeback fight against Charles Oliveira.
Chandler will step into the Octagon for the first time in two years when he rematches the former lightweight champion at UFC 309 on Nov. 16. The fight will serve as the co-main event of the promotion's annual show at Madison Square Garden in New York.
In a post on X on Monday, Chandler vowed to deliver "a mind-blowing" performance against Oliveira.
Chandler is currently a +205 underdog to beat Oliveira on theScore Bet.
Oliveira knocked out Chandler in the second round at UFC 262 in 2021 to capture the vacant 155-pound title. However, Chandler rocked Oliveira and nearly finished him with ground-and-pound in the first round before Oliveira turned the tide.
In Chandler's most recent UFC appearance, he suffered a submission loss to Dustin Poirier.
Meanwhile, Oliveira - who held the belt until May 2022 - is coming off a split-decision defeat to Arman Tsarukyan at UFC 300 in April.
Chandler was expected to face former two-division champion Conor McGregor before moving on to the Oliveira rematch.
