Feng Xiaocan leaves on stretcher after head-kick KO
Feng Xiaocan left the Octagon on a stretcher after a scary knockout loss at UFC Macau.
Shi Ming, a 6-1 underdog, flattened Feng with a devastating head kick early into the third round of the Road to UFC strawweight final Saturday at Galaxy Arena.
The UFC and local medical officials agreed to take Feng out on a stretcher - and transport her to a hospital - because she was unconscious for four minutes, UFC commentator John Gooden said in an update on the broadcast before the start of the main card.
Feng was unresponsive when she first regained consciousness but began speaking in the ambulance, according to the broadcast. She was unaware of what had happened.
Gooden said in a second update that Feng was moving all extremities.
Feng underwent a precautionary CT scan of the head at the hospital, and a doctor said the results "looked good" upon preliminary viewing, per the broadcast. She has no fractures or injuries in her neck.
The UFC Performance Institute in Shanghai will "follow up with the necessary concussion protocols" when she is cleared to go home, Gooden said.
Feng suffered the first knockout loss of her career at UFC Macau, ending the 22-year-old Chinese fighter's eight-fight winning streak.
Shi, a 30-year-old also from China, earned a UFC contract with the victory and has now won five in a row.
