Report: Namajunas to return vs. Maverick at June UFC event
Former strawweight champion Rose Namajunas will return to action against Miranda Maverick at UFC Fight Night on June 14, sources told MMA Fighting's Damon Martin.
Maverick also announced the women's flyweight matchup on social media.
The June 14 event is reportedly expected to take place in Atlanta, though the promotion has yet to confirm its location.
Namajunas is looking to get back on track from a unanimous decision loss to Erin Blanchfield at UFC Edmonton last November. The 32-year-old is 2-2 since moving up to 125 pounds in 2023. Namajunas is ranked No. 6 at women's flyweight.
Maverick is riding a four-fight winning streak and hasn't lost since facing Jasmine Jasudavicius in June 2023. She's ranked No. 12 in the division.
Maverick revealed on Instagram that she has trained with Namajunas extensively and looks forward to continuing to do so after their fight.
"I watched (Namajunas) fight as I was coming up in the sport, and then I got to train with her on a regular basis," Maverick wrote. "We have been training together for the past few years but, luckily, train primarily at different gyms. Now it's time to duke it out in front of the world and then go back to sharpening each other's tools."
