Magny-Nelson added to UFC 318
Veteran welterweights Neil Magny and Gunnar Nelson will square off at UFC 318 on July 19 in New Orleans, the promotion announced Friday.
Magny is looking to rebound from a knockout defeat to Carlos Prates in a UFC main event last November. The 37-year-old has lost two in a row and is seeking his first victory since a come-from-behind TKO of Mike Malott in January 2024. Magny owns the most wins (22) and fights (34) in UFC welterweight history.
Nelson returned from a two-year layoff at UFC London in March and suffered a unanimous decision loss to Kevin Holland. The 36-year-old Icelander is 2-1 in his past three Octagon appearances dating back to 2022. Nelson holds the record for most submission wins in division history (seven).
A trilogy bout between Max Holloway and Dustin Poirier is scheduled to headline UFC 318.
