Former middleweight champion Chris Weidman will be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame this summer as part of the 2026 class, the promotion announced Saturday night.

Weidman sat cageside at UFC 328 at Prudential Center in Newark as play-by-play commentator Jon Anik made the announcement.

Weidman, 41, is one of the top middleweights in UFC history. He stunned the MMA world in 2013 when he knocked out all-time great Anderson Silva in the second round to win the title. Weidman went on to defend the belt three times - against Silva, Lyoto Machida, and Vitor Belfort - before forfeiting it to Luke Rockhold in 2015.

The Baldwin, New York, native's career took a downturn after his loss to Rockhold, as he went 3-7 across the final 10 fights of his UFC career.

In 2021, Weidman broke his leg in a bout against Uriah Hall. He made an improbable return to the Octagon two years later at UFC 292, losing to Brad Tavares. Weidman went on to defeat Bruno Silva and then fell to Eryk Anders before retiring from the UFC in January 2025.

Weidman finished his Octagon tenure with a 16-8 professional record.
