Anderson Silva won't fight in 2014
After Anderson Silva posted videos of himself grappling and throwing kicks on Instagram, two months after suffering a broken leg at UFC 168, many — including UFC president Dana White — thought it was a possibility that he would return sometime in 2014.
It turns out it was just wishful thinking.
"These predictions that I will fight at UFC 181 or in any event next are not true. This year has already ended for me," Silva told Brazilian website Combate.
The former middleweight champion said the earliest he'd be able to fight is at the beginning of 2015, and reaffirmed the statement he made after his first loss to Chris Weidman — that he would not attempt to fight again for the title.
