Swanson on facing Aldo: 'I want to be the guy to dethrone a legend'
The last time Cub Swanson stepped into the cage with 145-pound kingpin Jose Aldo, this happened:
Since being posterized by one of the most viciously spectacular flying knees in the history of the sport, Swanson has posted an 8-2 record (including six straight victories in the UFC), and finds himself on the brink of another shot at Aldo.
"Of course I want to fight [Jose] Aldo, that's like [Chris] Weidman beating [Anderson] Silva you know,” Swanson said (via Sherdog) following his victory over Jeremy Stephens at UFC Fight Night 44 on Saturday night. “I want to be the guy to dethrone the legend. But fighting for gold is fighting for gold."
With Aldo scheduled to face Chad Mendes at UFC 176 in August, Swanson may have to wait a while for a shot at the featherweight title.
