UFC to stage record 23 fights outside U.S. in 2015

The Ultimate Fighting Championship will continue to boost its global presence in 2015. 

Following the success of 22 live fight events in 2014 outside the United States, the UFC will stage 23 events around the world next year. 

"As we grow as a business, we’re moving from a fight promoter to a world-renowned sports media and entertainment company," UFC chief global officer Garry Cook told Alan Snel of the Las Vegas Review-Journal

The UFC's 2015 slate opens Jan. 3 in Las Vegas with UFC 182, while the first fight scheduled outside the U.S. take place Jan. 24 in Sweden. Brazil is set to host UFC Fight Night on Feb. 22. The rest of the destinations are yet to be announced. 

Events were held in Brazil, Mexico, Australia, Canada, Japan, China, England, Singapore, Ireland, Germany and the United Arab Emirates in 2014.
