Liam McGeary took Bellator's light heavyweight division by storm Saturday after dispatching 205-pound kingpin Emanuel Newton in a hard-fought, five-round battle at Bellator 134 Friday at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.
McGeary earned an advantage of 48-46, 48-47 and 48-47 on the scorecards over five rounds and it was suggested that his work in the early rounds was good enough to earn him the victory.
With the title victory, the Brit moves to a perfect 10-0 and snapped Newton's seven-fight winning streak and his four-fight reign as the Bellator light heavyweight champion.
