Joe Rogan: If the UFC absorbs Invicta FC, fans will be calling for Rousey vs. 'Cyborg'
With the UFC women's divisions starting to gain traction with a more mainstream audience, UFC color commentator Joe Rogan thinks it's time for the promotion to absorb Invicta FC in order to add depth to their female offering.
"My thing is, I think they have a 145 (division) in Invicta, which is something that the UFC owns," Rogan said on his podcast, as transcribed by MMAFighting.com's David St. Martin. "Maybe (UFC) own it or part of it? I don't know if the UFC bought it. Somehow or another, they're working together ...
"What's important is that (Invicta) have all-women fights and they have a lot of fighters. Just bring them over to the UFC. Let's just bring them over. Bring 145 over. Let (Cristiane 'Cyborg' Justino) fight in the UFC."
Although Rogan seems hazy on the current working relationship between Invicta and the UFC, integrating Invicta fighters into the UFC would bring Cyborg into the fold, and the promotion would be one step closer to staging a super-fight between Cyborg and Ronda Rousey.
"People will be calling for it," Rogan said. "Right now, they're not calling for it because they don't know. It's interesting. Do I understand why Ronda wouldn't want to fight (Cyborg) at 135 (pounds)? Yeah, that's the smart thing to do. You're going to fight a fucking wrecking machine.
"(Cyborg's) big and she knocks bitches out. She knocks chicks out in a way very few fighters knock people out. She puts it on girls. She's scary. Everyone should be scared of her. They all should be scared. Especially if you're lighter than her."
