Oliveira handed 1-year suspension after testing positive for steroids

After it was originally reported that every fighter at UFC Fight Night 62 in Rio de Janeiro had passed their post-fight drug screenings, it appears one test may have slipped through the cracks.

According to the Brazilian MMA Athletic Commission (CABMMA), Jorge Oliveira, who lost via submission to Christos Giagos, tested positive for the anabolic steroid stanozolol.

Oliveira has been suspended one year, retroactive to March 21.

The CABMMA released the following statement, according to MMAFighting.com, explaining why Oliveira's failed test wasn't on the initial report:

This last sample code and its result were sent a day apart from the initial report, which, in this case, was the reason of not being mentioned in the Commission's initial statement.

Oliveira's loss to Giagos dropped his record in the Octagon to 0-2, and it wouldn't be surprising if he ended up on the chopping block since the promotion is trying to take a harder stance on PED users.
