Makashvili out-wrestles Eddiva in UFC Fight Night 66 main card opener
Levan Makashvili is a better wrestler than Mark Eddiva, and that was enough on Saturday morning
Makashvili, making his Octagon debut, kicked off the main card of UFC Fight Night 66 with a grinding split-decision victory over Eddiva, using his superior wrestling to control the Filipino for much of the 15-minute bout.
Eddiva was game, though, and didn’t allow Makashvili to unleash on the floor despite being on the defensive for almost three rounds.
Makashvili sealed the bout with a big slam in the third round, and followed it up with some low-level ground-and-pound in what was possibly the most pronounced bit of offense in the bout.
It wasn't dominant, but Makashvili was able to snag a win in his UFC debut.
