Frank Trigg on fighters' dislike of Reebok deal: 'If they don't like it then leave'
Former UFC title challenger Frank Trigg has a simple message for the fighters dissatisfied with the UFC's exclusive sponsorship deal with Reebok: fight elsewhere.
"The fighters can complain all they want. If they don't like it then leave. Go someplace else," Trigg told Submission Radio, according to BloodyElbow.com's Anton Tabuena.
"You don't get what you deserve. Athletes don't get what they deserve. Every athlete deserves at least two or three times more than they're actually getting paid from their promotion, or from their team, or from whatever," Trigg added. "The reality of it is, you get what you negotiate. And these guys are negotiating, and this is part of the negotiation deal that these Reebok deals will be a part of their deal, a part of their contract now."
While a scant few are in favor of the UFC-Reebok partnership, a growing majority of the UFC's fighters have reacted negatively to the recently released pay scale, with most claiming they pocketed more money finding their own sponsors.
Trigg, who hasn't fought in the Octagon since a TKO loss to Matt Serra in 2010, is being inducted into the "Fight Wing" of the UFC Hall of Fame this year for his classic second bout with Matt Hughes from UFC 52.
