Wendell Oliveira hopes to bounce back after 'embarrassing' UFC debut

by

It took less than a minute and a half for Santiago Ponzinibbio to completely dismantle Wendell Oliveira at UFC Fight Night 51.

After battling through the regional circuit for more than eight years, it was a disastrous UFC debut for Oliveira, who is hoping to show off his true skill when he gets a second kick at the can against Darren Till at UFC Fight Night 67 on Saturday night.

"My UFC debut was embarrassing," Oliveira told Mike Bohn and Christian Stein of MMAjunkie.com. "Every athlete wants to win and put on a good show. Unfortunately, I was defeated by Santiago. All credit goes to him.

"I imagined I would be invited to fight (in the UFC) again, since I didn’t get to show my skill set. I didn't get to show what I do best."

Oliveira was on a seven-fight winning streak before his setback to Ponzinibbio, and guarantees he'll embark on a new streak come Saturday.

"I believe and I guarantee that the result will be different this time," Oliveira said. "I'll step in the Octagon and I’ll give my blood, I'll do everything to make sure I am victorious."
