Sterling says Mayweather tried to pick up his girlfriend, claims 'I would light that guy up'

Ronda Rousey isn't the only MMA fighter put off by the behavior of boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Middleweight champion Chris Weidman and Serra-Longo Fight Team teammate Aljamain Sterling and their girlfriends were allegedly enjoying themselves at a pool party a day after UFC 187 in May when Money May appeared and pointed to Sterling's girlfriend.

The undefeated bantamweight martial artist recounted details of the situation to Damon Martin of FOX Sports earlier this week, saying his group went over to a railing to witness the infamous boxer stroll inside.

"I guess my girlfriend was still over there at the railing looking over with my training partner's girlfriend and (Mayweather) points up to her and she's looking around and they look at each other and she's like 'I think he's pointing at you' (gesturing towards Sterling's girlfriend)," Sterling said. "She didn't really pay him no mind, she just kind of shook her head like 'I'm with somebody,' and she's laughing about it and blushing a little bit."

Sterling then says the boxer sent a messenger who invited the two to meet him. Sterling claims his response was blunt.

"I pretty much tell him like it is - I'm an undefeated MMA fighter, you're an undefeated boxer. If you really want to find out what's better MMA or boxing today, you can come over and we can figure this out," Sterling said.

Despite Sterling's disdain for meeting Mayweather, another message-bearer - this time a woman - apparently offered the opportunity once again, making Sterling more agitated.

"So he sends the girl over again and tells me the same story to come down there with her. And I said, 'If I go down there with her, I know how this goes - she gets in, I get stopped and I create a scene and someone gets shot or someone gets hurt and I'm probably going to get arrested.' One of those two things were going to happen," he said.

Although the situation never escalated, Sterling claims a security guard at the venue told him that Mayweather is no stranger to that sort of behavior.

Sterling told FOX Sports that he wouldn't be afraid to fight Mayweather.

"I would light that guy up something serious," he said. "I'd light him up on the feet and then I'd take him down and choke him out. Any which way I wanted to. Any way I wanted. Let's see how many punches he can throw before his ass is on the ground or he gets kicked in the head."
