Miocic vs. Arlovski to co-headline UFC 195

A potential heavyweight title eliminator between Stipe Miocic and Andrei Arlovski is set to co-headline UFC 195 on Jan. 2.

Originally scheduled to chuck knuckles with Ben Rothwell at UFC Fight Night 76 in Dublin, Miocic was pulled from the card after suffering an undisclosed injury. Unable to find a new dance partner for Dublin, Rothwell openly campaigned for a chance to face Arlovski, only to have Miocic swoop back in and snag that opportunity.

A jack-of-all-trades type fighter, Miocic is 7-2 inside the Octagon. In his last bout at UFC Fight Night 65, Miocic slowly and violently fed Mark Hunt through the wood-chipper for four-and-a-half rounds before finishing him via TKO.

Crafting one of the best career resurgences in UFC history, Arlovski is 4-0 since returning to the promotion in 2014, scoring consecutive victories over Brendan Schaub, Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva, Travis Browne, and Frank Mir.

UFC 195 is set to take place on Jan. 2 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, and will feature a welterweight title showdown between Robbie Lawler and Carlos Condit as the main event.
