'Rampage' Jackson: Jon Jones 'bad for the sport' because he injures fighters
Quinton "Rampage" Jackson isn't excited to see Jon Jones return to the Octagon, and it has nothing to do with what "Bones" does outside the cage.
Jackson, who has a checkered personal life of his own, is instead concerned with how Jones handles himself inside the cage, insisting the former UFC light heavyweight kingpin is out to injure his opponents, and not just defeat them.
"Honestly, I think that Jon Jones is bad for the sport because when he fights people, he injures us," Jackson told AXS TV, according to MMAjunkie.com. "He kicked my knee backwards. My knee is never the same."
The first victim of Jones' record-shattering light heavyweight title run, Jackson was specifically referencing Jones' frequent deployment of an oblique kick or push kick to the thigh/knee, which can lead to catastrophic injuries.
Otherwise, however, Jackson made sure to wish Jones well as he embarks on the second act of his already storied career.
"I hope he learns from his mistakes," Jackson said. "Everybody deserves a second chance."
