Report: Tyron Woodley to wait for welterweight title fight
It appears Tyron Woodley is willing to wait patiently for a shot at welterweight gold.
With UFC president Dana White already (kind of) championing Woodley's bonifides for the next crack at the welterweight title, the promotion's No. 2-ranked 170-pounder has no intention of setting foot inside the Octagon any time soon unless a belt is on the line, according to UFC Tonight's Ariel Helwani.
After Woodley's bout with Johny Hendricks at UFC 192 was scrapped following Hendricks' disastrous weight cut, White said "The Chosen One" was next in line for a title fight, but quickly poured cold water on the situation by pointing out there are a lot of variables in play.
Woodley hasn't set foot inside the Octagon since January - a victory over Kelvin Gastelum - so waiting for a title shot may not be the best course of action. The UFC doesn't necessarily have the strongest track record for keeping their promises, and waiting for a title fight means he likely won't fight again until mid-2016.
