Carlos Condit draws inspiration from Holly Holm

Holly Holm's spectacular and improbable knockout of Ronda Rousey at UFC 193 helped fuel teammate Carlos Condit.

Set to vie for the welterweight title against Robbie Lawler at UFC 195 in January, Condit says the hardworking Holm is an inspiration for everyone at Jackson-Winkeljohn.

"Definitely inspired," Condit told MMAjunkie Radio. "Holly put on an amazing performance and I’m just so proud of her. The fight was awesome, but she’s an inspiring person to be around in the gym.

"She trains as hard or harder than anyone else, and there's a lot of that. We've got a really cool thing going on, and she's a big part of that."

Not only was Holm's transformative performance inspirational, her actions following the bout - interrupting her celebration to check on the fallen Rousey - ultimately showed her class as a mixed martial artist.

"Take a look at a true martial artist in every respect and see how she’s acting if you don’t like Ronda," Condit said. "Because Ronda puts out whatever vibe she puts out, and by people gloating and sneering about it, you’re kind of putting out the same energy, I feel."

Although Condit has held the interim 170-pound strap, he's never had undisputed gold wrapped around his waist, failing in his quest to capture the title against Georges St-Pierre at UFC 154 in 2012.

"As a puzzle, it’s probably one of the most difficult ones I've had to analyze and we’ve had to break down," Condit said about his upcoming bout with Lawler. "It will be tough. There's breaking down the puzzle and saying what we're going to do and then there's actually going and execute it when you've got somebody like Robbie trying to flatten out the wrinkles in your brain."
