Magny survives late onslaught to outlast Gastelum at UFC Fight Night 78

The UFC Fight Night 78 headliner between Neil Magny and Kelvin Gastelum was a tale of two fights.

Over the first three rounds, Magny was clearly the better fighter, landing the crisper, more consistent combinations while unleashing a grappling clinic every time the fight hit the floor.

Powered by a pair of knockdowns - including a hellacious right hook that nearly sent Magny on an all-expenses-paid trip to dreamland - Gastelum, showing none of the cardio issues that plagued him in the past, took over during the final two frames, and with a potential 10-8 round in the fourth, looked as though he may have snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.

In the end, Magny survived the onslaught, and his dominant first half was enough to sway two of the three ringside judges, allowing him to escape Mexico with a split-decision victory.

A short-notice dynamo, Magny is not only one of the most active fighters on the UFC's roster, but he's been on an absolute tear over the past two years.
