Faber caps off UFC 194 prelims with victory over Saenz

Frankie Saenz is tougher than a three-dollar steak. Unfortunately for Saenz, Urijah Faber likes feasting on cheap beef.

Faber threw everything - including the kitchen sink, and maybe even a bathroom vanity - at Saenz during a violent second-round flurry incited by a massive knee. But Saenz, through some sort of miracle, somehow survived the onslaught.

In fact, not only did Saenz survive, but he seemed to rally after absorbing the punishment, firing back at an increasingly tired Faber with stinging leg kicks and heavy punches.

It wasn't enough, though. Faber, bolstered by that big second round and a few timely takedowns in the third, emerged after 15 minutes with his hands raised.

Tecia Torres def. Jocelyn Jones-Lybarger via unanimous decision

For someone with a delightful nickname like "The Tiny Tornado," Tecia Torres doesn't look much like a cyclone inside the cage.

Instead, the undefeated strawweight prefers grueling clinch work along the fence, and steady, unspectacular ground-and-pound. It's not exactly the most aesthetically pleasing style, but it was more than enough to propel her past UFC newcomer Jocelyn Jones-Lybarger on Saturday night.

For a brief moment in the third round, Torres finally transformed into "The Tiny Tornado," and had the leather-tough Jones-Lybarger in trouble with a vicious combination, but ultimately couldn't close the deal.

Warlley Alves def. Colby Covington via 1st-round submission (guillotine choke)

Warlley Alves didn't even break a sweat.

Just over a minute into his bout against fellow blue chip prospect Colby Covington, Warlley Alves suddenly snatched a flying guillotine choke. A panicking Covington tried to slam his way out of the hold, but Alves only tightened his grip, forcing "Chaos" to tap out at 1:26 of the opening frame.

Leonardo Santos def. Kevin Lee via 1st-round TKO

Leonardo Santos isn't just a one-dimensional grappler.

A massive underdog to streaking prospect Kevin Lee, Santos violently flipped the script on Saturday night, flooring "The Motown Phenom" with a beautiful counter right hand.

A prone Lee tried in vain to avoid further punishment as Santos rained down a series of vicious jack-hammering punches until the bout was waved off at 3:26 of the opening stanza.

Following the bout, the overjoyed Brazilian vaulted over the cage, and celebrated in the crowd at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
