Conor McGregor considering 2 title fights in separate weight classes

Conor McGregor's win against Jose Aldo at UFC 194 happened so fast that he's looking two steps ahead.

Though some would like to see him defend his title against Frankie Edgar at featherweight, others wouldn't mind seeing him toe the Octagon for the lightweight title.

McGregor's coach, John Kavanagh, said both fights could happen within a span of five months.

"I do think the next one will be lightweight for the belt," Kavanagh said on Monday's episode of "The MMA Hour," according to MMAFighting.com's Marc Raimondi. "Maybe that's going to be around April. March, April - something like that. ... Maybe that and then July, UFC 200. Maybe he'll defend the featherweight belt against Frankie on that card."

Kavanagh doesn't believe McGregor will want to take a break until July, which is what leads him to believe that two quick fights are in the cards.

"He's never gonna wait until July," he said. "Even if I was to suggest it or encourage it, I know it's a pointless effort."

Though commissioner Dana White would prefer Edgar fight Aldo for the vacant belt, McGregor insists that he's not giving it up if he goes up to lightweight and says he's active enough to hold both belts at once.
