Cerrone wins battle of 'Cowboys' with 1st-round submission of Oliveira
Donald Cerrone was the last "Cowboy" standing after he submitted the similarly nicknamed Alex Oliveira with a triangle choke in the main event of UFC Fight Night 83.
The two engaged in some closely fought Muay Thai clinch work to start, with Oliveira faring well against the favored Cerrone. They went back-and-forth until Cerrone tripped Oliveira down to the mat.
Cerrone proceeded to remind everyone that while he's known for his thrilling striking wars, he was also the owner of 15 submission wins heading into this fight. He advanced past Oliveira's loose half-guard and then transitioned to a triangle choke from the mount that elicited a quick tap at 2:33 of the first round.

This was a short turnaround for Cerrone who rebounds in impressive fashion after losing a lightweight title bid against Rafael dos Anjos in December.
