Alistair Overeem jokes about rematch with Brock Lesnar in WWE
The biggest heavyweight matchup for Alistair Overeem might be outside of the UFC.
At a Q&A in London on Friday to promote UFC Rotterdam on May 8, Overeem was asked if he would ever consider fighting Brock Lesnar again. The two are forever linked by their fight at UFC 141 in 2011, a TKO win for Overeem that served as both his UFC debut and Lesnar's last professional MMA fight.
Lesnar is now with the WWE, and Overeem joked that he might join him when he's done with his current line of work.
"The Brock Lesnar fight?" said Overeem, according to Damon Martin of FOXSports.com. "Maybe one day in WWE - when I retire from real fighting."
Overeem certainly has the physique of a professional wrestling superstar, but fans shouldn't hold their breath for this matchup occurring anytime soon. "The Demolition Man" faces Andrei Arlovski next, while Lesnar is set to play a major role at Wrestlemania 32 in April.
