Dana White thought Silva beat Bisping, needs 2nd viewing
Michael Bisping's controversial fight against Anderson Silva at UFC Fight Night 84 on Saturday ended with Bisping winning by unanimous decision.
Silva fought Bisping close, however, and believed he won the bout after he connected with a questionable knee to his opponent's jaw in the third round while Bisping was waiting for referee Herb Dean to give him his lost mouthpiece.
Silva wasn't the only one who thought he'd done enough to win the contest, as UFC president Dana White said in a post-fight interview he believed Silva earned the victory.
"I have to watch it again," White said, according to Marc Raimondi of MMAFighting.com. "There was so much craziness going on here after the flying knee, but I believe I had it even going into the fifth round and whoever wins the fifth round won the fight. I thought that Anderson Silva won, by the same score. I had the same score, but had it the other way."
White said he still doesn't know the details of the controversial third-round incident, but he believes the fight could've been stopped by Dean.
"Walk-off knockouts are awesome," White said. "Make sure the fight is over. I haven't seen exactly what happened, but he hit him with the knee, then walked away. Herb Dean didn't stop the fight and then the bell rang. If he would have jumped on top of him, he could have finished the fight. He did not, he tried to walk away. It's crazy."
The bout marked Silva's first since January 2015, and White was impressed by how he performed.
"Anderson actually looked pretty good tonight in a five-round fight for a 40-year-old guy who's only fought once in two years," White said.
Silva didn't shy away from expressing his frustration with the judges' decision, going as far as suggesting they were "totally corrupted."
