Report: Kimbo Slice, Ken Shamrock fail Bellator 149 drug tests

The circus that was Bellator 149 has somehow become more absurd.

Kimbo Slice and Ken Shamrock tested positive for banned substances in their pre-fight drug tests for the organization's Feb. 19 card in Houston, reports MMA Fighting's Marc Raimondi, citing multiple sources.

The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation hasn't disclosed the substances involved, but Slice and Shamrock are on administrative suspensions pending an adjudication process, sources said.

Should the fighters be disciplined, the maximum penalty for failing a drug test in Texas is usually a 90-day suspension and a $5,000 fine.

Slice also risks having his win over Dhafir "Dada 5000" Harris overturned. The original result of their Bellator 149 bout was a third-round TKO win for Slice after a comically bad bout. The fight had serious consequences, though, as Harris had to be stretchered out and was later hospitalized due to renal failure.

For Shamrock, this incident only compounds a first-round TKO loss to rival Royce Gracie in the card's main event. The 52-year-old Shamrock had issued a formal protest to have the result changed to a "no contest" due to an apparent low blow delivered by Gracie, but that protest will likely be dismissed.
