Hector Lombard moves back up to middleweight division
Following a dramatic loss to Neil Magny at UFC Fight Night 85, Hector Lombard has decided to once again compete at 185 pounds.
Lombard made the announcement Sunday on Instagram.
The hulking Lombard has been competing at welterweight since October 2013, but the grueling weight cut clearly took its toll on him against Magny. Lombard came out strong in the first round only to run out of gas and endure a seemingly endless barrage of ground and pound from Magny before the fight was waved off in the third round.
"I asked my body to perform, but I got no reply," Lombard said in his post. "When your body says no and stops functioning there is nothing you can do about it. I'm very happy to be back fighting at my original weight 185. Now with no IV allowed, I will be able to fight in a healthier weight for me."
Prior to joining the UFC, Lombard was a middleweight title holder for Bellator MMA. He has a 3-3 record in the UFC with one no-contest, the latter a result of Lombard testing positive for anabolic steroids after a fight in January 2015.
