The favorite
You can't dissect the field without first mentioning Kevin Harvick (6-1). He's been reeling a bit, but the veteran has a pair of wins over his last eight races.
Denny Hamlin (7-1) will start No. 2 behind Truex. Hamlin's been great in the Cup Series, winning last weekend at Homestead to make it three victories over his last 12 races. He's been inconsistent at Talladega, however, failing to post consecutive top-10 finishes since 2010.
Coming off a third-place finish last October, history suggests Hamlin will probably slide a bit this weekend.
Trending up
If you're hesitant to take one of the top favorites, Joey Logano (+700) is your best look.
Logano took the checkered flag at Talladega in April 2018 and has three wins on the track in his last nine tries. He's been red-hot over the last five, posting an average finish of fifth.
Trending down
Truex (12-1) is routinely in the mix among the favorites in the Cup Series, but to say Talladega has given him fits would be an understatement.
The 39-year-old's average finish over 30 career races at Talladega is 21st. His best is fifth (twice), and he's placed 20th or worse in each of his last seven attempts.
He isn't even worth a flier at the current price.
