Will Smith working with NASCAR on rom-com
Will Smith and NASCAR are teaming up on a new movie.
Smith's Westbrook Studios signed on to executive produce "Clean Air," a romantic comedy for Amazon Studios that will be set in the world of NASCAR, according to Justin Kroll of Deadline. NASCAR's Matt Summers and Tim Clark will also be involved on the production side, along with The Chainsmokers' Kick The Habit Productions.
"Clean Air" follows Lyla, a sports agent who loses her star client before the start of the NASCAR season and decides to take a chance on a 17-year-old dirt track racer named Piper Kyte. Lyla then becomes acquainted with Piper's father, Matthew, a former NASCAR champion who hasn't been seen since walking away from the sport.
Kroll reports that Smith doesn't plan to star in the movie but has been "very hands on" in the process thus far.
